Experience & Background

Gale Hohwald is a Recovery Supervisor at National Subrogation Services (NSS), where she oversees the firm’s triage and administration teams and supervises analysts handling claims for several key accounts. She joined NSS in October 2016 as a Recovery Analyst and brings extensive experience in subrogation, insurance recovery, and property and casualty claims management.
Throughout her career, Gale has developed broad expertise across personal and commercial lines, including bodily injury, physical damage, workers’ compensation, property, and New York no-fault claims. Her background in auto subrogation, no-fault recovery, and claims supervision supports NSS’s work delivering efficient recovery services and strong claim outcomes for insurers, self-insured entities, and third-party administrators.
Prior to joining NSS, Gale was a Subrogation Manager with Liberty Mutual, where she handled personal lines automobile and New York no-fault recoveries. Earlier in her career, she served in a variety of claims leadership roles, including Adjuster, Supervisor, and Team Manager, across multiple lines of business. She also served as NY Chapter Co-Chairman of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals from January 2005 through June 2016 and was a member of the NY NF Loss Transfer Advisory Committee from 2003 through January 2016, working with insurance industry stakeholders, the New York State Department of Financial Services, and Arbitration Forums on rules and FAQs for New York PIP. She is also an Arbitration Forums panelist in both the Auto and No-Fault forums.
Gale earned a B.A. in Social Sciences from Stony Brook University and an M.B.A. in Leadership from Dowling College.
